Be the Match & Red Cross drive!

We're hosting a two-for-one drive! Join us September 10, 2016 from 9am - 2pm to join the bone marrow registry through Be the Match AND donate blood with the American Red Cross.

For the thousands of people diagnosed every year with life-threatening blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, a cure exists. Over the past 25 years Be The Match ® , operated by the National Marrow Donor Program ® (NMDP), has managed the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world. We work every day to save lives through transplant.

The Be The Match Registry® is the national bone marrow donor registry in the United States, operated by the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP.) DKMS is a bone marrow donor center officially affiliated with the NMDP, so every person DKMS registers is listed on the Be The Match Registry®.

Age requirements are different on each bone marrow registry. 18-44 is preferred for BE THE MATCH. DKMS accepts up to 55 yoa. They are not "competitors" because they BOTH affiliated with the NMDP for possible life saving matches. The more the merrier I say. If you are older than 44 and can't swab at our event, please consider a donation used for testing applicants. Or....go to DKMS.ORG and send for a swab.

According to the American Red Cross, 97% of Americans who live to age 72 will require blood for some reason during their life, however only 8% of eligible people actually donate. For only about 10 minutes of time donating blood, you can save a life. What an amazing return on your investment!

Go to www.redcrossblood.org for more information, including whether you are eligible.
